Today is the one month mark - aka just one more month til I am
back home in Missouri. Kinda crazy to think about all the stuff we've
done in just two weeks. And still so much left to do! (I'm
especially excited to go to the Isla de Mujeres).
Today Christina and I got up a little early so that we could go to
church early and practice the musical number for Sacrament Meeting (all the
girls in our group sang "Families Can Be Together Forever"). We
sounded...
We interrupt this blog for the following announcement:
*ahem* THERE IS A GECKO ON MY WALL! It sped out of the
cupboard above our closet and over to the door. A got a little picture
of him (HE IS SO FAST! And brown. And he explains the weird noises
I've heard at night). Where he is now, I have no idea, but I hope I don't
wake up this morning with a gecko on my face.
Now back to our blog:
...awesome! (In my humble opinion). We had a really
nice blend going. And the song went perfectly with the theme in sacrament
(temples and the family).
Another fun note from sacrament - so there was a cute little girl
(about 2 years old) who likes to run to the podium stand and try to play the
piano during sacrament (I believe her dad is one of the counselors). So
when her mother came up to get her and lead her back, the little girl said,
"Hola! Hola! Hola!" (Saying hola every time she passed a
row). It was SO stinkin' cute!
Also, I played the hymns in sacrament meeting.
(What's funny is the Bishop announced that one of the other girls in the
group was going to play, but her eyes got all big and she was like,
"nooooo." So I was like, "I'll do it!" So I got up
and played. I knew the first song, but I'd never played the second song.
Luckily it went without a hitch).
Funny story: At the end of Sunday School, one of the members came by with the time on an ipad (holding it up for the teacher
After church, we went to the opening of one of the girl's mission
calls! I won't say where she got called to (that's her news to share),
but it was great!! And very fun and exciting! Yeah!
(What's fun is some of the MMs came to church with us to see the call).
After that, Christina and I came home and took a nap before lunch.
Then we had lunch (and we talked about sports and horse racing with MMs
parents). Lunch was a delicious chicken, avocado, onion, thing. And
can I just note, there were habaneros (one of the hottest peppers on the
planet) for lunch as well (no I did not eat one), but I was kind of like "woah" at how they were literally passing the habanero around and cutting off small chunks to put in their food. (Mind = blown).
After lunch, I came back to my room and lazed round. I sang some hymns and prayed (it was nice to get some alone time. Church hasn't been as satisfying just because it's hard to understand it in Spanish (I still like it, and I still feel the Spirit, it's just harder, that's all).
After which, I skyped my parents! At the end of which, I tied my dress band around my head (I had been playing with it the whole time we'd been talking) and declared, "Look! I'm a Nephite!). Following which (after we'd said our goodbyes), I took a bunch of selfies (of course).
Don't be silly, I always close my eyes when I smile. |
Hello there, handsome. |
I am Yao, queen of the rock! And there's nothin' you girls can do about it. |
I didn't know my awesomeness could blind people like that! |
Yeah, I am pretty cute :P |
"And at lunch, I talked with the grandparents about Scarlet, that one race horse..."
"You mean, Secretariat."
"Oh, yes! Secretariat. And how he has two hearts..."
"You mean has a heart twice as big,"
"Oh, yeah! *facepalm*...Totally lied to those people at lunch today..."
Lol. I was amused. Anyway, so after the skype call, I watched the movie Secretariat (what a koinky-dink) and Christina got home and watched it with me! (And I told her of my mistakes at lunch, she laughed too, lol).
And now I am heading off to bed! (Got some swimming to do tomorrow!)
'Til Tomorrow.
